Ormond Beach, Florida September 1st 2006.
Neal Tomlinson, President of Tomlinson Aviation, Inc. announces plans to open a satellite location in the mountains of North Carolina.
Operations are planned for the Elkin Municipal Airport at Yadkin Valley Aviation. Flight Instruction will be offered in the Schweizer CBi series helicopter. "There seems to be a lack of reputable operators in North Carolina." Said Stephen "Sandy" Shore, owner of the Elkin Municipal Airport. "We are honored to have Tomlinson Aviation select our airport for a new base of operations."
"Being a North Carolina native, I’m excited about our second location!" said Tomlinson. "There is an opportunity for our students to receive mountain training and experience a different kind of flying than Florida can offer. Also, I’m hoping training in the Carolinas will open the door to student in the local area who want to fly with us, but can’t get away from their jobs or other obligations for extended periods of time."
The Elkin municipal airport is located about 40 miles northwest of Winston Salem, North Carolina and offers a 4003-foot long runway with a 1068 ft. elevation. The airport is approximately 5 miles from the Town of Jonesville putting most restaurants and motels within 10 minutes by ground. A courtesy car is usually available by request for short trips, and car rentals can be arranged by calling a day ahead.

Ormond Beach, Florida April 19th 2005
Neal Tomlinson, President of Tomlinson Aviation, Inc. was honored yesterday by proclamation from the mayor of Ormond Beach for a volunteer aerial observation program using Tomlinson Aviation’s fleet helicopters.
Partnering with Don Shinnamon, Public Safety Director of Holly Hill and the Ormond Beach Fire Department, Neal Tomlinson has volunteered his helicopters to be used in a Tactical Fire Observer (T.F.O.) program that, during a wildfire, will be used to provide aerial support to the incident commander with immediate information to maximize firefighting efforts.
“During the wildfire storm of 1998, I came very close to losing my home”. said Tomlinson. “ So when Don (Shinnamon) approached me with the idea for this program, I could appreciate the advantage my aircraft would bring the fire department and I believe the community will greatly benefit from it.”
Six Ormond Beach firefighters have already been trained in the helicopter to serve as TFO’s. The program was first used on Saturday, April 15th as one of Tomlinson’s helicopters were dispatched with a fire department TFO on board to provide an aerial report for a fire located just east of the Ormond Beach Municipal Airport.
